Hubby took the day off today so we decided to head up to Ventura Harbor for lunch. It was overcast and cold and absolutely beautiful! We took a short walk along the harbor and the beach and it was just ever so breezy. It was invigorating!
Hope you are having a great day!
Take care,

It was a wild ride...
I've been fighting a slight case of depression this week so yesterday amid all the crazy, changing weather, I decided to get out of the house and run some errands. I took my camera along just in case there was anything interesting to shoot and there was.
The weather yesterday was an example of extremes. Our early afternoon temps were as high as 90 degrees whereas just barely 2 hours later, it had plummeted to 73 degrees. We had nice, clear and sunny skies in the morning and then thunderstorms and huge cloud formations in the afternoon and evening. It poured one minute and was clear the next and that continued all afternoon.
When DH got home from work, I talked him into driving over to the beach with me in search of a great sunset shot. He went along and it was beautiful, but not with the spectacular pink and red colors I had been hoping for. The sky was much more interesting in a way that we hardly ever see out our way. Lots of gorgeous clouds in deep greys and blues. It was truly worth the trip.
It's been raining again this morning, but it's supposed to clear up by late afternoon. We'll see.
No sewing/quilting here to speak of. I took the Scrappy String down off the design wall because I need a larger space to spread it out. I've made a few more blocks and only have a few left to do. Soon, I'll be sewing all those blocks together and rather than a lap/bed quilt, I've decided it's going to be a wall-hanging. I have the perfect spot for it at the base of my stairs.

What will our weather be like tomorrow?
This was what the beach looked like yesterday afternoon around 1pm or so. Beautifully clear, gorgeous water color, and 72 degrees! Amazing. And I was almost the only one there. It was so nice since this area is super crowded during the summer months.
Right now, it's windy, cold and raining so I'm wondering what it will be like tomorrow.
I was also playing around with my camera a bit today. Trying to get some good bokeh.

I am grateful...
Sometimes I have to remind myself of how lucky I am to live in such a gorgeous area. I tend to take it for granted since I've been here so long and have seen most of it many times before. But it really does change... every day, every month, and every year with every change in the weather and with every season.
Even a trip to the doctor's office for an annual visit delights me with it's lovely views along the way.
I hope you take the time to appreciate where you are.

Just Another Day at the Beach...
For those of you suffering the terrible heat wave that has gripped so much of the midwest and east, let me just say that I'm sorry you are having to endure the high temps. I find that as I grow older I can tolerate the heat much less. I grew up in Las Vegas where it got up into the 110+ degrees every summer and I loved it, but not now! Anyway, I hope it ends soon and you get some relief.
Meanwhile here we're having cooler temps, morning fog that is so thick it's soupy and mild breezes, especially at the beach.

This is PL's last day at the beach (with me, of course) before she heads back to work. We try to spend one day a week at the beach every summer. This summer, however, we've both been busy with "projects" so our beach time suffered. We got a lot done though, so it was OK!

There was so much activity today. We saw several groups (3-5 in a group) of harbor seals and many single seals, all folicking in the sea. It must have been a good fishing day also because the Pelicans were also extremely busy, diving into the water right in front of us! I've never seen it like this before. The only thing we didn't see were dolphins. I wonder where they were?

I don't think I ever showed these to you before. I made them several years ago and they were such a hit with my husband's co-workers, I went into full assembly line mode. They were fun in the beginning, but it did get to be pretty boring after awhile. I think I made 50+.

They are really easy to make and you can be as creative as you want. I used "Pet Screen" which I purchased at Home Depot since it comes on a very large roll. It only comes in black though, so if you want the colored mesh, you won't find it there.

They make really good beach bags since they are "washable" and easy to see inside. It would be easy to make flaps or add pockets! It's just up to you!

Spent the day at the beach.....it was glorious! Dolphins played in the waves...actually played - splashed each other and body surfed....and seals swam by at their leisure! I can't ever remember seeing this kind of activity in all the many trips I've made to the beach in my lifetime! These Wednesday's at the beach are going to be good therapy for my creative spirit.
