As promised...

As I promised yesterday, I'm posting photos of the two recent Two-Zip Hipster bags I made for a customer/friend.

Cute, right? The houses are wonderful! And, the black one is stunning with all that gorgeous color! I cannot take credit for picking these fabrics... they were supplied by my friend.

This bag is truly perfect. It's just the right size, without being too large or too small, and it's got plenty of great pockets. Plus, it hangs nicely cross-body and doesn't cut into your shoulder as so many bags do when they are in use. And, it's a pleasure to make... a GREAT pattern!

Take care,

My favorite so far!

Wow... I love this Zip & Go bag in this fabric combination. It's an asian-influenced Art Gallery fabric with Kaffe's Mirage Stripe as a lining. I knew as I was working on it Saturday afternoon that I was really liking it, but I had no idea how much until I was finished with it!

This is one of those colors that is hard for me to photograph. The true color is a bit more dusty and grayed. My husband took this bag in to show his co-worker's today, along with some of Pat's Two-zip Hipsters. I suspect that it will sell, and I'll be sorry to see it go.

Speaking of Pat's bags... with her permission I'm showing you the recent Poolside Tote she made using Noodlehead's pattern. Pat has such a way for combining fabrics. I just love this bag she's done with a canvas fabric. She also used Soft & Stable in it even though the pattern doesn't call for it. That chevron handle is perfect, don't you think?

I've got a treat for you today!

Today I want to share with you all the great 2-Zip Hipsters that my friend Pat has made. She's the one who introduced me to this bag pattern and taught the class I took. She has been sewing bags/pouches/totes of all kinds for many years now and is an expert at it. She knows all the tricks/tips that make a good bag into a great bag. The mother of three daughters, who although I've not met them yet, sound like they have exceptionally good taste, you can just imagine all the great bags she's made for them. She doesn't limit her sewing to bags though, and sews clothing for her grand kids too. And, on top of all that, she is the nicest person you would ever want to meet.

(Please excuse some of my blurry photos. I didn't have the best light the day I took these and I have not yet figured out a good way to photograph the interiors of the bags.)

The above bag is a beautiful pale grey and the outer rings on the red flower are more of a blue-red than an orange-red. This is one of those color combinations that is difficult to photograph.

Aren't they wonderful? I bought one from her and I love it. I didn't show it here because I didn't want to make anyone jealous! :)) Yes, I could have made it myself, but then I would have had to hunt down the main bag and lining fabrics (I love the fabrics she used) if I could still find it, the right size/color zippers and the hardware. Decided it was in my best interest to buy it from her... besides, I like the idea of owning a bag that Pat made. :)

Pat is going to be opening an Etsy shop very shortly, but before that happens, I wanted to take this opportunity to share her bags on my blog and give you all the opportunity to purchase one if you so desire. $60 each + $5.70 shipping via USPS flat rate priority. USA only at this time. Contact me via email and we'll handle the details or if you have questions. Visit the 2-Zip Hipster link for additional information on the size of the bag and the number and placement of pockets.

I'll be sure and let it be known when Pat opens her Etsy shop. She's going to have a really cute name, but you'll just have to wait and visit her shop to find out what it is.

Two-zip Hipster bag... I love it!

I took a class last Friday and we made the Two-zip Hipster bag. Our class consisted of 8 people so it was a great size and we were able to get a lot of attention from our teacher. I must say that this is one of the very best patterns I've ever seen. It's very thorough with lots of great pictures, extremely well written and easy to read. I can't recommend it highly enough.

We started at 9am and were finished by 3:30 pm with an hour for lunch so it was an all-day session... and this was considering we had already cut our bag main fabric, lining, interfacing and soft and stable before we got to class. I did finish up my strap, did the topstitching around the top of the bag, and put the little fabric square on the end of the zipper at home, but that's all... the rest we did in class.

I chose this fabric because it's a neutral and will go with many different outfits and I can use it in the summer too. I picked the gold/grey inner lining because my wallet is yellow/gold and I wanted it to match. :)

I absolutely love it and plan on making many more. The pattern designer allows them to be made/sold so you just might see them start popping up in my shop too.

Take care,
