My new knitting bag...

I finished this bag on Wednesday, but today is the first opportunity I've had to get some photos of it. This is the Frame It Up Satchel by Whistlepig Creek Productions. I'm not sure I would have made the pattern if I hadn't seen it already made up, but I'm really glad I did because I love it.

It uses as 12" tubular frame and it opens really wide and stays open so it will be perfect for my yarn, knitting needles, books, and various knitting supplies inside. It also has 6 pockets on the inside.

I have been trying to find the "perfect" fabric for this bag for several months now, as I had something in mind that I thought would work. Not being able to locate anything I thought was suitable, I decided to search my stash and came up with this combination of fabrics. The only reason I used the striped fabric for the tab was because I didn't have enough of the main bag fabric, but I think I like it just as well.

I used Soft & Stable in the body of the bag rather than the fusible fleece the pattern recommends. I wanted it to stand up and it does. It also serves to keep it wider at the top of the bag since it's stiff. It's perfect. I did use the recommended fusible fleece on the tab and in the handles. This was my first time installing a magnetic snap and it was a snap!  :))

The only thing I would do different if I made it again would be to interface the "sleeves" that the tubular frame fits through. They seem flimsy the way they are, but they do work.

It's a fun and easy bag to make!

Take care,

Not only great fabric, but great fabric placement! I love that you centered the design on the bag, and I agree that the striped closure works as a contrast. Congrats on another great bag completion!

Very nice. Perhaps you should rename your blog--from the "Bag lady"--never.

What a wonderful bag. I don't think I could just use it for knitting, it would have to go out with me. The fabric is gorgeous.

This looks so fun and pretty , as well as being functional, for your knitting bag! Where did you get your frame for this pattern, by the way?
