I'm working on Xmas gifts...

for my niece. She has an American Girl doll and loves it so of course the best possible gift I could give her would be doll clothes. Sounds like fun, doesn't it?

That's what I was thinking, but I forgot that I'm not as enamoured of sewing clothing as I once was. I sewed my own clothes for soooooo many years and while I was always proud of my wardrobe (and it was unique, of course), it grew to be tedious. I don't know why I thought that doll clothes would be any different. They're still clothes and not quilts! LOL

Even though I may not be enjoying the complete process, it is very rewarding to see how cute they look when they are finished and know just how much my little niece will love them!!

I've got a few more pieces to do. I'm thinking a couple of aprons, a pair of denim pants (to simulate jeans), another t-shirt or two, a poncho, and a dress/jacket. We'll see if I have the patience to carry out my plan. Wish me luck!

I find the smaller pieces try my patience. I love the patterns that you picked for the little outfit. I'm sure it will be much loved. :)

I would feel the same way now about making clothes, especially doll clothes, but it will be worth it to see your nieces excitement. What a nice gift.

She'll be the best dressed doll on the block -- love the fabrics you've chosen. I'm sure your niece will be thrilled. Tell yourself that, even though they're clothes, they ARE pretty tiny -- you can do this!

You deserve a medal. I remember when I used to sew clothes too, seems a lifetime ago. These are so adorable, she'll love them.

It's an adorable outfit, she will love it. I used to make lots of clothes, but I'd rather be sewing quilts too.
