Lot of Illusions here....

As you know, I participated in Andi Perejda's Circle of Illusion quilt class last week at my guild and I had a great time. So I thought I would talk about it a bit.

I think everyone in the class had a good time! It was easy because Andi is such a nice person…really down-to-earth and easy to get to know. She told us what we needed to do and then left us to do it. I like that type of class because it’s actually possible to get something done. Of course, if we needed some help she was right there to offer it.

She’s interesting too, since she doesn’t specialize in just one area. Andi's an expert hand and machine quilter, plus she's involved in fabric manipulation and texture, as well as dyeing and painting fabrics. In fact, she is partners with Jeanne Surber in a new Thermofax business, JandiDesigns.com which has some great Thermofax screens designs available. They also do custom work, so if you have a photograph or drawing you want to work with you should contact them.

As you can see from the photos below, we were at various stages when the class came to an end. These following two were my favorites...I loved the fact that these two quilters were already thinking outside the box before the class began. Since we had only seen one red-white example, most of us picked just two colors to work with.

This is a class composite (mine is the piece exactly in the middle.) Looks great doesn't it? Doesn't it get you thinking about all the possibilities of this design?

And, here's mine! Yay! I finished it Thursday morning. I was about a third done at the end of class on Wednesday, but I was motivated!

I'm going to set it aside and let some ideas "percolate" about how I'm going to use it in a quilt, but I'm very excited. It you get the chance to take this class from Andi, I say DO IT!

Very cool. Wish I were close enough to take the class. Anxious to see what your percolation leads to. Sally
