I don't know about you, but I get excited when I see gas prices like these. Regular for $1.91 a gallon. Unbelievable.

We haven't seen gas this cheap for years...literally, years. It makes me want to drive somewhere just so I can buy cheap gas! Ok, ok, just kidding...

We did drive to Santa Barbara today though, since I wanted to do a bit of research concerning DSLRs. I'm still trying to figure out which camera to purchase. I do wish to thank those of you who offered your camera advice way back here when I first starting thinking about a new camera. Anyway, one of my wonderful fabric reps suggested I visit Samy's Camera since their sales force is reputed to be very knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately, that was not my personal experience. The young man who helped us was virtually no help at all. He seemed bored with my questions and when I asked about two specific camera's, he brought them both out to show me, but basically told me to "do my research" and when I was ready to buy, "come on back and they would be able to help me". Since I thought I was there to "do my research", I was quite surprised at his attitude. Anyway, I now know where I will NOT be purchasing my new camera. So, I'm still in research mode....

So, the weather was great and the drive up along the coast was beautiful. Oh, I forgot to mention that there is a wonderful yarn shop we visited while in Santa Barbara.
It's Loop & Leaf on Brinkerhoff Street. It's a cute little house turned yarn shop and it's filled with gorgeous yarns and very helpful people. Sooooo many gorgeous yarns....especially some skeins of cashmere we saw! Since $37.50 isn't in my price range for yarn right now, I got this instead. I haven't tried this yarn yet, but it feels very soft and how about the colors in this skein? Aren't they gorgeous? The colorway is Tulip.

I work a block away from Samy's and Loop & Leaf. Wish I knew you were coming to SB, we could of had lunch! Bummer about Samy's, it generally has better service than that. I can hook you up with the manager if you want to come back. I have a Canon Rebel and absolutely LOVE it. The Nikon's are also very good and probably a bit more reasonable. If you are looking for compact, an SLR is not the way to go. Feel free to ask questions.
