Happy New Year & Downton Abbey

I suspect there are probably few of you who haven't watched Downton Abbey. I'm eagerly awaiting the January 6th premiere of Season 3. Actually, that is a total understatement....I can barely contain myself with excitement until the new season starts.  I love Downton Abbey and have watched and re-watched all the episodes now about four times.

So I was thrilled when I came upon this book at Target the other day. It was the last one and I snatched it up so fast my husband didn't even realize what I had done. I actually think it shocked him a bit since I don't usually behave that way. :) Let's just say I made the right decision.

It's a wonderful book - full of background information regarding the house and how the participants would have really lived, the Downton Abbey characters and a bit of history too. It's so interesting that I can barely put it down.

I love the changing clothing styles, especially for the women with those gorgeous hats. I guess the style of their hair in those days made it possible to wear hats and never experience "hat hair," or they just never took the hat off once it was on. :)

I've always said I was born in the wrong decade. A couple earlier would have been perfect for me. I would have fit in quite nicely. Trade-offs, of course, but great clothing styles.

Wishing you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year,

I love Downton Abbey too. Need to watch Season 2 again. I stumbled on a blog post last week that shared something from the last show of Season 3. Ugh! I didn't want to know...

What a surprise to see your post this morning. My son's family gave me a year of Netflix for Christmas and I watched the first episode of "Downton Abbey" last night. My friend who called to wish me well for the new year told me about that book. I'm going to watch a bunch more episodes today and try to be ready for the new season. Happy New Year!!

I'm waiting for it to begin with baited breath - guess I'll have to settle for the Rose Bowl before then and now :). Happy New Year, Terri.

What an amazing find! I am a Downton Abbey fan and can't understand when people say it is boring because I just love everything about those times too. My daughter and I just finished rewatching the last two series in anticipation of the new season.

Counting down the days in number of sleeps right now! :-)

And I'm with you on the clothes… I'm hoping for a major fashion trend to bring this style back in the forefront. The Great Gatsby should help with that, nay?
