It's still very green, with wild lupine and poppies everywhere! We aren't fortunate enough to see this spectacle every year since it's usually much drier than it's been this year, so we really appreciate it when it happens. We take special drives just so we can photograph it for posterity!
There are so many things to see and do, including a visit to the shore at sunset. Even a mediocre sunset is beautiful.
If you're planning a visit to our state this year, here are some sites I highly recommend you visit before your visit. This is a great site geared towards tourism and this site is terrific for history and culture. My DH even remembered that our state fish is the Garibaldi....weird, the things that stick in your brain! Finally, for getting general information about CA, this site is the best!

This state is beautiful this time of year - 2 weekends ago my husband and I went to the coast (from Central California to the Central Coast) and the mountains were full of orange, purple and white and greens. It was just glorious to see. So soon it will all be brown!
You have every right to be proud of your state, I have seen a BIG chunk of it on driving vacations. Nothing beats the Pacific Coast Hiway!!
