Look what I found...

packed away in a closet and forgotten about. They are going to be sent off to good homes in the next week or so and that will make me happy.

This sampler quilt was part of a block of the month at a fabric shop in Oxnard. Sadly, they are no longer in business, but while they were they had a great BOM going. If you paid for the first pattern ($5.00) and made the block, then showed it to them the next month, the next pattern was free. Simple, just a great idea for getting us to visit their store, as if we really needed one. I can't remember exactly, but I think this quilt was made about 10 years ago or so. It's still brand new in the sense that it's never been used.

I'm thinking I made this quilt around 1993 or so. It was done when I first joined the local quilt guild and my mini-group (Ladies of the Evening).

This quilt was made in a class in Ojai at Heartwarmer's Mercantile (which also, very sadly, is no longer in business). We were crammed into a tiny little back room and we had such fun! All I remember about this class is how much we laughed! It's called a "Stained Glass Mosaic" and it's a fun one to make since you don't really know how it's going to look until it's finished.

This last quilt is the one and only Hidden Wells quilt I ever made. It would be quite easy for me to make now, but at the time it seemed challenging. I wasn't good at combining fabrics of my own choosing yet, so I chose "matchy-matchy" fabrics. I love it!

I guess I scared a few of you with my post of all the empty bolts. Please rest assured...I have lots and lots of fabric left in the shop and lots more on the way. In fact, I just placed a huge order yesterday for Fat Quarter Bundles, Design Rolls (strip rolls), & 5" Charm Packs of Kaffe, Heather Bailey (Nicey Jane), & Amy Butler (Love). Hope that helps you feel better.

It's been raining "cats and dogs" here for the past few days and it's wonderful, plus we desperately need it. We haven't had this kind of rain (that I remember) since 1994, when the street we lived on at the time flooded. It was a cul-de-sac and the five homes at the bottom (cul-de-sac) of the street flooded. The water came within 5" of our front door and we were hurriedly moving things to higher ground (the second story). Luckily the rain stopped at just that moment and began to recede. My father's car was parked in our driveway and it had about 5" of water inside it. Amazingly, it didn't do much damage. We dried it out and cleaned the carpets and it was a good as new.

Take care,

All I've ever found in the back of my closet was the back of my closet. How wonderful to discover such treasures! Oh, what lucky people who will receive them! You were a wonderful quilt artist even back then!

Glad to read that you have placed orders for
more fabric.....I was beginning to get
nervous that maybe you were going to
close your shop. Just want to tell you how
pleased I have been with the orders
that I have placed with you. You do a
great job ! BTW I know that it's a big
place but my grandparents lived in
Thousand Oaks. I have such wonderful
memories of visiting them. Also had
an Aunt and Uncle who owned the
hardware store.

I hope that you don't have any flooding this time around.

The quilts are beautiful! Someone will be very fortunate to receive them!

I love my older quilts for the memories too. They seem to hold them. I love the Mosaic quilt especially but they're all great.

These will be great gifts. I'm especially found of the stained glass of browns with blue sashing.
