This is the first and only watercolor quilt I ever made. I loved the challenge of creating the quilt with lots of different pieces of fabric, but also found it a bit too tedious for me. I also was very new to machine quilting when I did this so I basically just played around using metallic thread.
I think it was probably 1993 when Watercolor quilts first became popular that I made this. Can it be that long ago? Really? I don't feel that much older.

Yes, I think it was about then! I know it doesn't seem that long ago, does it? It came out really lovely!
Wow! What a stunning quilt! You are so tempting me.
It is very pretty. I made my first colorwash quilts influenced by Diedre Amsden in 1990. I think the first books about it came out around 1993. I taught it for years and still have trays of squares.....
Hey Terry, at least you made one. I have 2 books, 4 pizza boxes of 2" squares and now have no intention of making one LOL. I did use some of the squares for a scrappy quilt but it didn't even make a dent in it.
Crispy
You're as young as you feel. That water color looks very young.
It's very lovely. While I enjoy how watercolor quilts look, I have no desire to make one.
Very lovely quilt. And the quilting really adds to the watercolor effect.
