My Friday...

I got my hair cut this morning and then went to Target and the library on my way home. We're watching The Forsyte Saga and the House of Elliott on DVD and I can get them at the library. When I got home I needed to do some mindless sewing so I sat down and started working on some more "Scrappy Trip Around the World" blocks. They are fun and easy and let me feel as though I've accomplished something.

Yesterday afternoon, I worked on an organizer insert for my purse and it took me 2 1/2 hours sitting and drawing out the concept. Once I figured it out, the actual cutting and sewing took 1/2 hour. I'm a visual learner and I was struggling to "see" the construction process in my head. I hate to admit it, but it's one piece of fabric and two pieces of batting. Simple folding and sewing. And, it took me that long to grasp how I wanted to do it. Oh my... sometimes I feel my age.

I couldn't get a good photo of it inside my purse because it's a hobo style and they just don't sit open nicely unless you are holding it open and I needed both hands to take the shot. but you can sort of see how it works. :) I'm pleased with it and am going to work on several more improving the design as I go along. My bag is a metallic silver color and I wanted something that would really show up so the coral fabric was just perfect (especially with my yellow wallet). You know me... I love color!!

Tomorrow we're going cherry picking!! I'm soooo excited because last year we didn't get to pick a single cherry and I missed it.They are so good right off the tree.

Take care,

  1. Pretty blocks! I've been doing the odd one too but I'm rethinking a large quilt after I realized all those seams have to be matched to put the blocks together.
I'm visual too and can never picture how something will turn out until I do it.

Lovely insert. You should consider selling the pattern/directions. I love it.

And I hope you came home with a healthy amount of cherries (and red lips and fingers...)
