These two fabrics were my inspiration...
I started it in January of 2011 and finished it in January of 2012.
As you can see from the variation in the photos, I've had a terrible time getting some good shots of this quilt. I've been trying since I finished it in February...I've been carrying it around in the car looking for good locations and lighting...and I just haven't been able to get any that I really like.
I hope you've enjoyed seeing my quilt. If you haven't made a "Trip" yet, I encourage you to try it. It's a great learning quilt for color and combining fabrics and it's just a lot of FUN!!
It's gorgeous Terri. I love how you use the beautiful floral fabrics in your quilts. Great entry!
ReplyDeleteIt's stunning! Great use of fabrics! I usually avoid florals but you've got me rethinking them...
ReplyDeleteTerri, I'm thrilled to have found you and your shop. Love your quilt and inspiration taken from the seashell fabric. Great color scheme! I absolutely love Kaffe Fassett and Philip Jacobs fabrics which make up a huge part of my stash. Check out my quilt entry which is also my very first pattern and features mostly Kaffe fabrics.
ReplyDeleteit's beautiful, Terri -- I never would have thought to put all those fabrics together! Did you strip piece and then cut? I've made "trip" quilts before using Bonnie Hunter's scrappy instructions, but haven't ever tried to make something that coordinated well...
ReplyDeleteoh my! this is gorgeous! I love those Kaffe Fasset fabrics. You did a wonderful job picking other fabrics to go with them. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and it turned out beautiful. I can imagine all the work that went into this quilt!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful! I love, love, love the way the fabrics play off each other....very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love watercolor look of the quilt. These busy fabrics are perfect for this pattern. Beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, as always. I love your fabric choices, they make me want to get all my Kaffe Fassett, Phillip Jacobs fabric out again. well done, this is a lovely quilt.
ReplyDeleteYay! You did it! late but not least (to make up a new saying :-) It's beautiful and I am so glad you got it done in time.
ReplyDeleteWonderful how the fabrics blend. I love the colour scheme, too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a "Boston Common" pattern. Beautiful, and your choices of fabrics makes it work. It looks so busy up close, but it all works!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is breath taking... soooo beautiful. Truly a labor of love.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Always, Queenie
I really want to try 'A Trip Around the World' one day! So pretty. April@Little Mama hen
ReplyDeleteIt is so gorgeous. I love it.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! I love all those fabrics.....yum!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors - it's beautiful
ReplyDeletewow - in some of the photos it looks like the edges of the fabric are sticking up - I think it's an optical illusion! This is beautiful - thanks for showing!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you didn't get to finish your strippy quilt but I'm just as glad to see this one. It's awesome. I made one a few years ago and vowed NEVER to work with so many and such small squares. Seems to matter how I pressed the seam allowances one row or another never wanted to cooperate. I love yours and thanks for showing the cards of how you organized the strips. Another beauty!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt!

Gorgeous trip! All the fabrics blending really make you stop and pick out the details in each row. Congrats on a wonderful quilt!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to do a Bargello but I think this might be more doable. It is so pretty!
