Wanna hear about our Freddy day?

We had such a good day! Twelve of us made the trek to Santa Barbara.

We had time to stop at Treasure Hunt on the way up and if you haven't been to this wonderful quilt shop, you have really missed something special. It's located in a little house on a side street in lovely Carpenteria. They carry a great selection of Kaffe's, and all the other popular designers fabrics as well, plus many gorgeous batiks.

Then, it was time for dinner at the Beachside Cafe in Goleta. THANKS to my friend Judy for the great recommendation (especially for a party of twelve)...it was wonderful. Weather was perfect and we could look right out onto the beach.

and who should we just happen to run into at the restaurant? Yes, it was Freddy!

Then, it was finally time for the quilt meeting and Freddy. We were treated so warmly by the members of the guild. Thank you! They had reserved 12 seats together for us in advance which made it so much easier for us to enjoy the meeting without being scattered about the room. This guild has many, many very talented quilters and it was a real treat to see their "show and tell".

When Freddy got up to speak there was a sort of hush that came over the room. I guess we were all in awe! lol Considering the rowdiness of her quilts, she spoke soothingly. She's now 80 and started quilting when she was 60 and she's really quite amazing, I think. She's certainly not a perfectionist, but she's enjoying every minute that she spends quilting. Her quilts are soooooooo colorful and fun...it was exhilirating to see one gorgeous quilt after another.

And, just as a side note...do you remember the "Circle of Illusion" class I took. Andi's got a photo of our class on her website. Check it out! We're the first photo.
