This year the National Quilting Association has devoted the day to the "home". As a result of all the foreclosures across the country there are many homeless families and the NQA is encouraging everyone to get involved and help out in some way. They've provided a PDF file for a wonderful quilt block called Welcome Home.
Use this block pattern to make a quilt to be donated to a homeless family in your area. Maybe you even know someone who has lost their home and would appreciate such a gift. I just can't imagine how lonely and frightening it must feel to lose your home.
