We were talking with one of the local growers at the Farmer's Market and he told us that the strawberries that are picked about 3-4 days after a rain are the sweetest. So the strawberries at this coming weekend's Farmer's Market should be wonderful! Can't wait to find out...I just love strawberries.

This is why I miss CA! It's still snowy and cold here in VT, and even though I love that, I miss fresh food in winter that wasn't shipped cross-country to get to me!
ReplyDeleteWe've had such wonderful strawberries this year, even with all of the freezing cold weather a couple of weeks ago. They have been delicious. Florida strawberries season won't last very long, but at least until the Strawberry festival next month!
ReplyDeleteIt's 10 degrees here so that picture is so unreal!
ReplyDeleteI used to live in a community that had a lot of strawberry farms. It was fun to go buy strawberries that were picked that very day and make jam from them! I'd never heard the tip about rain but it makes sense.
ReplyDeleteYummy, those strawberries look so good!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Terri - they make my mouth water! It must be so fun to see all of the crops in their various stages where you live!
ReplyDeleteOh yummy. Why, oh why, don't I live where there are strawberries in January?! Enjoy.
